The collection of UK AIDS Quilts were made between 1989 and 1996 to commemorate friends, lovers and family members who passed away from an AIDS related illness during this time. You can zoom in to some of the specific details listed below.
The left panel has the names Brenda and Brian King, Brenda may be the panel maker. The main image is of a leopard with a rainbow plume halo crown on a pink heart background.
The centre bottom panel remembers Hans Lutkehaus, with the words ‘Friend’ and ‘Mentor’ stitched along the borders.
The centre top panel is plain, but if you zoom in carefully you can see the stitched names: Anthony, Christian, Richard, Kevin. It may be that this panel was not completed.
The right panel remembers Jim Ennis, who is referred to as a Winged Warrior. An image of a person on a green dress, with brown hair, smiling and dancing in front of a tree decorates the main space of the panel.
